Position Overview
We are looking for a part-time entry-level Policy Coordinator. The ideal candidate is someone who is completing an advanced degree in law and/or public policy or is just out of school and looking for some quality career experience. The Policy Coordinator is responsible for the overall process of coordinating policy research and policy evaluation that supports Strong & Starlike’s strategic policy research priorities; client research needs; and informs educational offerings.

Hours: Part time, with a minimum of 20 hours and a maximum of 30 hours per week.
Salary Range: $18-25/hour (based on experience)

What You Will Do On the Job
Gather, evaluate, review, and summarize qualitative and quantitative data and documents, including research reports, legislation, and regulations.
Provide comprehensive information and analysis of policy issues and developing reports, presentations and other relevant materials
Assist in drafting deliverables such as reports, memos, data dashboards, and slide decks to share findings with colleagues, clients, and the field.
Collaborate with project team members to develop high-impact insights and recommendations in response to real-world questions brought to us by clients and/or challenges facing the broader field.
Work with the research staff, research consultants, and other internal stakeholders to develop research and policy priorities for Strong & Starlike aligned with Strong & Starlike’s strategic vision, as well as the strategic vision for clients receiving policy research related services.
Contribute to the development of Strong & Starlike’s position on a range of policy issues.
Scope, collate, summarize, and visualize evidence to assist with the development of policy briefs and policy submissions that are relevant to Strong & Starlike and client strategic priorities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate policy related knowledge translation and dissemination.
Provide training and technical assistance on topics related to Strong & Starlike’s consulting and education services.
Assist with gathering and summarizing programs and policies pertaining to business inclusion and supplier diversity nationally and internationally.
Perform all work in a culturally responsive manner consistent with Strong & Starlike’s mission.
Contribute to the quality of written content including proofreading, formatting, and editing documents.
Make recommendations to leadership for streamlining systems and processes.
Process business inclusion program certification applications for small businesses and provide approvals and denials in alignment with established policies and procedures.
Research, assess, and provide policy update recommendations to leadership on client projects pertaining to economic opportunity and access.
Respond to customer service calls, questions, and messages within customer service standard timelines set by clients.
Other duties as directed based on the needs of the organization and assigned by management.
What Education & Experiences Are Required for the Job?
Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing a degree) in business, political science, data sciences, sociology or other fields with an emphasis on research.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree with 2 years of experience
In lieu of an Associate’s degree 5 years of relevant experience.
What Additional Education & Experiences Are Preferred?
Preference given to applicants with undergraduate and/or post graduate majors in: law, research, government policy, political science or a related field, etc.
1-2 years data analysis experience
Strong interest and commitment to advancing social justice and equal economic opportunity is desired.

Location & Travel
Strong & Starlike operates out of Minnesota and Maryland. In person client and team meetings may occasionally necessitate travel.
