Internship Overview: Policy Research Assistant
Strong & Starlike Consulting, Inc. is seeking a dynamic intern to support our growing business needs through the end of 2024. Strong & Starlike Consulting, Inc. is a consulting firm that works largely with government entities (as well as hospitals, libraries, nonprofits, and small businesses) related to policy creation; procedure drafting; program development; and program management. We focus on taking on projects that have an opportunity to increase economic access and opportunity.
The goal of this internship is to help further develop your knowledge related to public and private policy, research, and analysis skills in a professional work environment. Your internship will include supporting the development of well-written responses to relevant research inquiries related to policy; government certifications and government contracting; supplier diversity and vendor inclusion; and/or assisting in producing detailed findings after synthesizing all relevant research and data related to Strong & Starlike’s consulting and education services.

Location: Remote (work from home)
Travel Requirement: Infrequent (less than 10%)
Hours: Up to 10-15 hours per week. Time commitment and schedule will vary depending on the project(s) adopted by the intern.
Internship Duration: Academic Fall Semester 2024 (September through December 2024) with the possibility of extending additional semesters.
Pay: $18/hour
Applicant State of Residence: Minnesota or Maryland

What You Will Do During the Internship
Tasks during the internship include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support with research related to demographic shifts, economic access, and policy;
Contribute to the quality of written client recommendations including proofreading, formatting, and editing documents;
Make recommendations to leadership for streamlining systems and processes; and
Other duties as assigned.
What Education & Experiences Are Required for the Internship
Preferred qualifications, experience, and interests for applicants include the following:
Bachelor’s degree OR currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR law student interested in non-traditional careers following law school;
Interested in the issues of economic development, equal economic opportunity, business development, racial equity and community outreach;
Basic knowledge of industry news, data trends, and current events;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Organized and highly independent, with an ability to prioritize and advance assigned project tasks;
Creative and flexible;
Strong time management skills;
Ability to maintain client confidentiality when needed;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
Access to reliable WIFI.
